Proceedings of the Regional Technical Workshops

The SAFE Regional Networking Workshop is organized in different countries annually to share experiences and explore ways of improving the training of extension professionals in African universities and colleges. The general objective of the SAFE regional networking workshop is to discuss and examine, within the context of the SAFE initiative, ways and means of improving and sustaining the formal training of mid-career agricultural extension workers in SAFE Program countries.

 

Specific objectives of the regional workshop are:

 

  • - To share ideas and experiences regarding the opportunities and challenges of implementing Mid-career training programmes in each training institution.
  • - To provide better understanding of the off-campus practical experiential component; a fundamental element of the Mid-career programme.
  • - To develop strategies for coping with emerging training needs.
  • - To share ideas on means of sustaining the Mid-career training program.

    Regional Networking Workshop is usually attended by top mangment of Universities and Colleges, Deans, Department Heads and Lecturers of Agricultural Extension Departments of participating Universties and Colleges

Currently, preparations are underway to conduct the 2014 West Africa regional networking workshop in Bamako, Mali from February 11-13, 2014 unde the theme "Analysis of Options to Design and Implement the Value Chain oriented Supervised Enterprise Projects (SEPs)".

 

  • - The 2013 Regional Networking Workshop was conducted in Tanzania.
    - The 2012 Regional Networking Workshop was conducted in Benin.
    - The 2011 Regional Networking Workshop was conducted in Malawi.
    - The 2010 Regional Networking Workshop was conducted in Ghana.
  • - The 2009 Regional Networking Workshop was conducted in Ethiopia.
  • - The 2008 Regional Networking Workshop was conducted in Nigeria.
  • - The 2006 Regional Networking Workshop was conducted in Tanzania.
