Smallholder farmers in many African countries are not sufficiently well organized nor provided with sufficient resources, technical and management expertise, legal mandates and political power to actively participate in viable commodity value chains. SAFE has initiated the FBOs capacity development project that aims to address the above challenges in 4 countries. Areas to address include FBOs management, service provision, development of business skills, etc.
The SAFE Alumni Associations are established with the objective of putting the mid-career graduates under one umbrella for the purpose of sharing experiences, contributing to the improvement of agricultural extension in the target countries and consequently the development of agriculture at national level.
